The Chao Ram Cave is located about 20 km South of Thung Saliam. Inside the cave lives a colony of about 100,000 bats which fly out at the evening to find food. This is a spectacular event that can be seen from the nearby basecamp of the ranger station. Bats communicate with each other by emitting sonar waves to avoid obstacles. The bats which inhabit the Chao Ram Cave are the species that eat insects and nectar. 6 kinds of bats are living in the cave: the cave nectar bat, the obold's bat, the shield-faced roundleaf bat, the horsfield's leaf-nosed Bat, the wrinkle-lipped bat and the common bentwing bat.
